Swed-Mobil Moves Entire Office Infrastructure to CROC’s Cloud
Swed-Mobil, the first official Volvo dealer in Saint Petersburg and the leading dealer in the region, has moved its entire office infrastructure to CROC’s cloud to ensure its reliable operation and cut IT CapEx.
«To gain a competitive edge and increase our operating income, we focus on anti-crisis projects and more effective customer relations, while also improving aftersale services and cross sales. At the same time, we want to drop the dead weight of non-core functions, including IT, and free up resources for business development. That is why we opted for cloud services,» said Lyudmila Butakova, IT Director, Swed-Mobil.
CROC’s cloud now hosts the company’s entire back office infrastructure, such as file services, terminal and application servers, as well as some front-office systems, including their 1C-based financial system.
The customer’s key requirement was uninterrupted operation of a cloud platform as even only a few hours of downtime can result in a loss of business and profit. In addition, the cloud has to be flexibly manageable. In CROC’s cloud, the customer can control computing resources without any assistance and power off virtual machines at night-time, thus saving up to 50% on power bills.
«Today, many customers wonder how to optimize expenses and IT functions. CROC can help them fully meet these goals. CROC’s redundant cloud model, predictable fees, and a pay-as-you-go approach allow our customers to continuously provide services without extra capital investment. Moreover, as part of our managed services, CROC’s team can take on routine infrastructure administration processes, acting as an internal IT function,» noted Maxim Berezin, Cloud Service Director, CROC.
CROC’s cloud is based on geographically distributed data centers, thus protecting hosted systems against failure. The data center’s powerful computing equipment can handle resource-intensive databases, while a management console with Amazon-compatible API allows for new resources to be connected in a customer-friendly format.
Since Swed-Mobil chose an isolated virtual environment in the cloud, system migration was completed in a very short time and with no modifications, with all customer apps being launched in just one day. Even though a 1C-based system used by the customer’s personnel ran on a rather old platform, it was successfully migrated ‘as is’ without any upgrade or significant customer effort.
Swed-Mobil is a Russian Volvo sales and servicing company with an over 25-year track record in the market and its own vintage car museum.
