Volume Versions, а New Feature of CROC Cloud
CROC Cloud introduces a new feature, Volume Versions, that you can use to restore your volume content instantly to the original disk.
You no longer have to waste time creating a new volume from a traditional snapshot. Volume versions, unlike snapshots, are not copied to another storage, but remain in the same storage as the disk.Possible use cases:
- You can use a volume version to save the volume content before updating your system and applications or making critical changes. If something goes wrong, you can use a volume version to restore the volume back to its original state very quickly.
- Versions can be handy for a backup policy. For example, you can create a new volume version once an hour and a new snapshot once a day and then store it separately from volumes and their versions.
You only pay for the total space occupied by volume versions. The size of a volume version may change over time and depends on how much data has been updated on the disk. If the contents of the disk change little after the version is created, the version will take up a small space.
You can use both the web interface and API to manage versions. To create a version of the selected volume in the web interface, go to Volumes section or the volume page. To view information about the created versions, go to Versions tab on the volume page. For more information about the new feature, see user guide and API documentation for volume versions.
