Kubernetes updates and new VPC switching location

06.10.2021 2 minutes 58

In this announcement, we've rounded up some of the most notable updates to the Kubernetes service over the past month. Among other changes, it should be noted that the VPC switch in the Instances section was moved from the top navigation bar to the filter section of the page.

Creating Volume Snapshots in Kubernetes

The Kubernetes service now enables you to create Volume Snapshots for Persisting Volumes using cloud tools and thus capture their contents at a specific point in time. Snapshots can be used later to restore the volume to a previous state or to duplicate its content.

For an existing EBS provider, you should expand project grants for the Kubernetes EBS Provider user and also update pods with EBS provider according to the instructions. Ready Volume Snapshots are saved by the cloud and can be viewed in the Snapshot section in the web interface.

Changing security groups for a Kubernetes cluster

As your security requirements change, you can quickly assign a different security group (or groups) to a Kubernetes cluster. Security groups can be added or removed either in the web interface (go to the Information tab in the cluster page) or via a new API method ModifySecurityGroups. Note that the default security group, which is created with the cluster, cannot be deleted, otherwise the cluster will not function.

EIP selection for Kubernetes services

When creating a Kubernetes cluster, you can choose Elastic IP addresses for the API server and Ingress controller, if needed. A prerequisite is that the pool of Elastic IPs has free addresses.

Re-locating the VPC dropdown

The VPC dropdown for instances was moved from the top navigation bar to the filter section of the page. Now you can display all VMs from the current project in the instance table, or filter the instances from a specific VPC. In addition, in the instance wizard you can specify a VPC where the instance will run. The information about VPC to which an instance belongs can be found in the VPC column in the instance table or on Information tab in the instance page.
