CROC Cloud Services recently took stock of its 2019 financial and technological achievements. The business unit of IT company CROC increased revenue by 45% YoY, generating ₽2 billion, excluding colocation services. The cloud provider’s management believes that such success is attributable to improving credibility among customers, who increasingly see CROC Cloud Services as a reliable partner that improves customer service, strengthens expertise, and builds on product portfolio.
Over the year, the unit’s number of customers increased by 30%, exceeding 400 in total. Revenue breakdown by industry remains relatively stable, with finance, retail, and consumer goods still generating a little more than half of income. However, the share of IT companies among CROC Cloud Services customers has been increasing YoY. IT companies use our cloud for product development and providing SaaS services, as well as market places and aggregators, now accounting for about 30% of our customer base.
More than half of cloud customers use a full stack of cloud and data center technologies and services rather than one-time services. For example, the past year saw more managed services projects, while optional services such as Managed Infrastructure and Kubernetes-as-a-Service were of particular interest to our customers. As demand grew, CROC Cloud Services expanded its product portfolio. In addition to the cloud-based container management service mentioned above, we launched a cloud-based Big Data analysis, which already brings benefits to a major foreign retailer. Moreover, we launched optional information security services such as WAFaaS for web apps security with protection against DDoS attacks.
CROC Cloud Services consulting expertise is on the rise. When implementing ambitious projects, we analyze a customer’s infrastructure, IT systems, and business processes. Based on a customer’s business strategy, our experts define a development plan for several years ahead and offer justified financial solutions to increase flexibility and IT performance. SBI Bank is following this path, with a recent audit resulting in migration of 90% of all critical business services to CROC Cloud.
CROC Cloud Services has improved its competence in building both private and hybrid clouds, with dedicated equipment in large cloud projects proving to be a prevailing trend of 2019. Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) helps companies provide reliable critical business services and store personal data (protection level 1 and 2), while reducing IT costs. For example, a government organization now hosts its funding control system in CROC’s virtual environment, thus optimizing IT costs and processing personal data in compliance with regulatory requirements.
CROC Cloud continues to upgrade its offering as well. Back in 2009, CROC Cloud specialists designed a unique architecture that can be integrated with a wide range of proprietary products and solutions based on open source software. In 2019, our experts released services to monitor administrator work and a system powered by neural networks to monitor virtual machine workload. As our customer base grows, they help automatically monitor the technical parameters of provided services and improve service quality, while maintaining the same headcount. Furthermore, last year, CROC Cloud significantly — 70% of entire infrastructure — upgraded hardware and introduced a new type of disk for software-defined solutions so that customers themselves can set the limits of available resource performance, thus increasing transparency and flexibility. Last year also marked the start of transition to new Intel processors, which boosted server performance by 30% and allowed for the use of convenient operations with resource demanding apps like 1C. Moreover, we are planning to largely replace obsolete computing equipment with new Dell EMC systems by the end of 2020, thus increasing cloud platform fault tolerance.
In 2019, our data center ecosystem was reinforced with two partner data centers in Istanbul and Udomlya in the Tver Region (Kalininsky data center) to provide cloud services.
«CROC Cloud continues to undergo non-stop transformation. We are constantly looking for growth opportunities and analyzing our strengths and weaknesses to deliver even more valuable customer experience. The scale of our business is growing, with our competences increasing in line with the evolving challenges faced by our customers. CROC Cloud Services users seek consultation with our experts, seeing us a business partner that shares experience and knowledge to achieve common goals,» said Maxim Berezin, Development Director, CROC Cloud Services.
«Over the years working with CROC Cloud Services, we have seen how their team constantly improves and increases technical skills. They also remain focused on always improving their cloud platform and leveraging the most advanced technologies to boost performance and manageability. We greatly appreciate our partner’s confidence in Dell EMC products,» added Svetlana Mishina, Sales Director, Corporate Business, Dell Technologies in Russia.
«When our company decided to enter the Russian market, we started a cloud provider survey to see which platform would perfectly fit our requirements. We were impressed with Russian cloud market maturity and healthy competition. Leading cloud providers like CROC Cloud Services take their reputation seriously and strive to continuously improve customer service,» said Eyal Wachsman, Cymulate CEO.
